I don’t think anyone should watch a movie they’ve seen before. I always look for something I have yet to see. That’s where the true magic happens. What kinda movies inspire you?

I like movies that are more symbolic. If information is spoon fed to me, I just get bored.

Drive (2011)
Dir. Nicolas Winding Refn “A scorpion asks a frog to carry him over a river. The frog is afraid of being stung, but the scorpion argues that if it did so, both would sink and the scorpion would drown. The frog then agrees, but midway across the river the scorpion does indeed sting the frog, dooming them both. When asked why the scorpion points out that this is its nature.” This quote encapsulates the theme of drive perfectly. Driver, excellently played by Ryan Gosling is the scorpion, unable to overcome his true nature. He wants to be good; he wants to be a real human being. His lifestyle as a part-time stunt driver, part-time criminal prevents this, but the girl and her son across the hall whom driver falls for gives him a light at the end of his tunnel. In the box office, drive struggled as it was marketed to be an action-packed thriller, and audiences were disappointed as that is not at all what this film is, but don’t let that fool you. Drive is a character study, a love story, a sad moral tale, and also, a masterpiece. Yes it is violent, but not for no reason. The tension that is created is masterfully done by director Nicolas Winding Refn and paced excellently. Masterful directing, amazing cinematography, a great soundtrack, and excellent performances throughout make this one of my favorite films of all time, and you can watch it from the link below.
